So this would be one of those unique situations where there are always at least 250 people located in this area at any given time but no one actually lives in Alpine, Alaska.  This is due to the fact that its basically just a major drilling operation owned and operated by ConocoPhillips.  It was technically a town/city at one time basically until 2010.  It was considered a census-designated place in 2000 but just 10 years later it was realized that no one lived there but 250 people worked there at all times.  It is, however, located just 8 miles north of Nuiqsut, Alaska which is a census-designated area and this place has over 500 people located in it.  Most workers live in this area.  The people who live in this area moved to the region from Utqiagvik in which the people who moved there lived in tents for the first year while housing was being built for everyone.  The drilling that goes on in the area pays dividends to the residents in exchange for use of the land.

Latest news shows that production numbers are increasing every single day since new oil projects have been taking foothold across the Alpine, Alaska area.
