Established in 1912, the Winnepeg Art Gallery (WAG) is Western Canadas oldest public art gallery along with being world renowned for its collection of Inuit art. WAG also showcases work by Manitoban, Canadian and international artists. The penthouse restaurant overlooks the fountain and flowers in the sculpture court. The Gallery is located in the center of Winnipeg within walking distance of most hotels downtown. The building itself has become quite the landmark for the City. Once you see it in person, you will understand why because it’s a pretty amazing building to see up close and in person. The main building has a gift shop, restaurant, rooftop garden, lecture rooms, and a theatre auditorium. The gallery itself has really made a great transformation from a civic gallery back in 1912 to Canada’s 6th largest gallery.
