Swift Current, Saskatchewan City Profile

Established in 1883, Swift Current was originally just a stop on the Pacific Canada Railway.  Basically what it was, was the end of the line at one point.  Due to this happening in 1882 citizens began flocking to the end of the line in order to make money and live a decent life.  The economy was solely based on the railroad for the longest time as most of the people who lived there helped develop new track out West.  There was several ranches located throughout the area as well which led to somewhat of an agricultural boom.  It officially became a city back in 1917 and it’s official slogan is, “Where Life Makes Sense.”  The Lyric Theatre located downtown is the oldest operating theatre in Saskatchewan having had it’s first customers back in 1912.  This is the biggest draw for tourists in my opinion.  Check out the list of things to do in the area just below:
