Sign Post Forest – Watson Lake, Yukon
Sign Post Forest is probably the most well known attraction in and around the Watson Lake area. It is definitely one of the more unique side trips along the Alaska Highway. It is famous worldwide and you can see that when you check out where all the signs are from. There are over 75,000 signs already and you are more than welcome to add to it when you stop and check it out. I personally plan on adding a “Don’t Mess With Texas” sign when I next stop by. It was started back in the 1940′s by military personnel who were homesick. Be sure to point the sign in the direction where you are from when you add your sign to the forest. There are new panels being added all the time. You can add everything from Street Signs, License Plates, Dinner Plates, “Welcome To…” Signs, etc. If you are planning of spending extra time in the area, Watson Lake is a great place to stay offering several hotels and motels along with and RV Park. If you are going in the summer, be sure to check out the waterslide at Lucky Lake Park or there is golfing just outside of town.
