Anchorage may not be the capital of Alaska, but it is by far the largest city. Not only is it the major port for Alaska (getting goods to pretty much everyone in Alaska) but its also has the most significant road system allowing cars to drive around all year round. It also makes up over 40% of the entire state of Alaska’s population. It is centrally located along the southern coast and is nestled in front of several mountain ranges which makes for more mild winters but heavier snow fall. It is also considered the largest Northernmost major city in the United States. Anchorage, Alaska is a 4-time (one of seven) All-America City Award winner.
